Fotografen hadern schon länger mit dem neuen, Energie sparenden Kunstlicht von kompakten Leuchtstoffröhren und LEDs. Jetzt haben sie einen mächtigen Verbündeten gefunden, der für die gute, alte Glühbirne und gegen Energiesparlampen kämpft: Donald Trump.
Donald Trump ist ja für seinen orangen Teint bekannt, aber er hat nun endlich den Grund benannt, warum sein Gesicht diese seltsame Farbe zu haben scheint: Es liegt am Licht! Dem Licht von Energiesparlampen und LEDs, genauer gesagt. In der EU ist der Verkauf von Glühbirnen schon seit geraumer Zeit verboten, da diese die zugeführte elektrische Energie vor allem in Wärme und nur zum geringeren Teil in sichtbares Licht umsetzen. Eine ähnliche Gesetzgebung hatten auch die USA verabschiedet – 2007, zur Regierungszeit von George W. Bush. Jetzt sollte eigentlich das Ende der Glühbirne kommen, aber Donald Trump hat sich zu deren Verteidiger gemacht und durchgesetzt, dass Glühbirnen weiterhin verkauft werden dürfen.

Therefore, the fluorescent light has always been problematic. Our complexion is rather unfavorable in this light and thus digital cameras have their problems, which can not always be correct even with the white balance. When a part of the spectrum is eliminated simply, we take not directly true, because our eyes can indeed differ only three overlapping spectral ranges - just like our cameras. But even if we push the color of a subject with the white balance in the right direction, we create so that other motives a color cast.
So the problem is known, but an orange peel - not the result of a weak connective tissue, but an orange complexion - not one of them. In fact, Donald Trump would rather fear bulbs, because the light actually tends to orange, while neither energy saving lamps still LEDs are renowned for.
But what does it now with Donald Trump's complexion really all about? Orange is not a typical complexion. The dominant factor of the facial color is the red blood in the blood vessels under the skin; since white skin reflects a large portion of the light before it penetrates to the blood vessels, the complexion is usually pink, unless it is darkened by melanin. It is the phenomenon of Carotinämie, a harmless discoloration of the skin that is caused by excessive intake of beta-carotene - beta-carotene, contained in particular in carrot juice is converted in the body into vitamin A. This may well be healthy, but then you have to just live with an orange skin. Donald Trump's skin, however, is not consistently orange; his hands have a different color, The skin around his eyes is more pink than orange, as one would expect if someone is wearing protective goggles in the solarium or omits this area when applying a self-tanning cream. Abandoning the bulb is not without problems and it happened in the EU, perhaps rashly, because he forced initially to purchase "energy saving lamps" (compact fluorescent lamps) whose light quality was also poor as their life. If they were then burned, they were due to the contained mercury to waste what Donald Trump also pointed out quite correctly: "It's Considered hazardous waste". However, current LED lamps have a much better light quality, very consume much less energy than incandescent bulbs, have a much longer life and are non-toxic. Therefore, I have long since made my peace with the new technology and my lamps changed step by step on the LED. As a photographer, you can live with it; only when using an electronic shutter according to the "rolling shutter" principle pulsed LED prepare still problems.
